Description

During this workshop, we will cruise through administering and scoring the Early Childhood Academic (ECA) Tool Pretest with P3-P5 children. Then we will discuss ways to use the ECA Pretest results to plan your instruction and share favorite resources.

Tweaked for 2023-24:

  • Body Parts: The question changed from, “What is this?” to “What Part of the Body is this?”
  • Emergent Writing: Changed how the points look on the Student Response Sheet, hoping to clarify how this section is scored.

About the Presenter

Mary Anne Diaz, Senior Education Specialist, ID&R Program Center

Initially hired in 1983 as a part-time tutor with the Cortland migrant education program, Mary Anne worked in a variety of roles in the Cortland program: Tutor, Data Specialist, Early Childhood and Parent Specialist, substitute Educator for staff on leave, and one year as Interim Director.

Mary Anne has collaborated with grants from the Geneseo Migrant Center, including HIPPY and Even Start, and participated with national Consortium Incentive Grants, from computer training in 1984 to SPARCC, and a decade with the Math Consortium. She currently works with the ID&R Program Center through SUNY Oneonta. Mary Anne has a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Reading.
