Introducing iSOSY New STAT Lessons: Keeping OSY Students Engaged

Description

Join us to learn about STAT Lessons (Short, Targeted, and Timely) which are designed to offer migratory students quick, interactive, adaptable lessons on topics that are pertinent to their lifestyles. The lessons are practical and relevant to the needs and interests of OSY. We will highlight the new STAT lessons available via the iSOSY website. Each lesson includes vocabulary, activities, and assessments to support you when teaching diverse learners, both in-person and on virtual platforms. We will also highlight strategies for engaging OSY students and motivating them to learn.

The content in this presentation is geared towards serving the migrant populations in New York State as defined under Title I, Part C and the approved State Service Delivery Plan, and may NOT be appropriate to all situations.

Meet the Presenter

Astrid Poulton, Parent Involvement Specialist, Oswego METS and Recruiter, ID&R

Astrid is in her fifth year working for the Oswego METS and fourth year working as a Recruiter for ID&R. Astrid has worked with P-3 to OSY students across all of New York State and she is a key contributor in the development of recent statewide OSY workshops and mini-lessons. Astrid recently took on the role of Parent Involvement Specialist for the Oswego METS. In this new position, she has developed and administered lessons and workshops for Oswego METS parents in weekly virtual group meetings. Astrid holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Empire in Cultural Studies, and she is a member of the iSOSY national Consortium Incentive Grant (CIG).
