Reading With Your Child is a collection of reading tips and suggestions for parents. The reading handout for parents of young children was adapted from the Geneseo Migrant Center’s Family Literacy Guided Lessons and Colorin’ Colorado’s Reading Tips for Parents of Preschoolers.
The sentence at the top, “Try a new idea each week and see what works best for your child,” can be a useful way to introduce the list of ideas, letting parents that they do not have to try using all of the suggestions every time they read a story with their children. They can try one idea at a time.
Page 2 reinforces the tips and suggestions, with an informal format designed by the NYS-MEP Early Childhood and Parent Engagement Support and Learning Community.
