Preparing Students for Success in Geometry Class

These resources contain four major topic areas, materials, and coordinating lessons meant to set students up for success prior to entering geometry class. The four topics were chosen based on what students should know as prerequisites for high school geometry. Each topic contains a Student Handout, Teacher Guide, and coordinating video lessons! These resources are great to use over the summer or during breaks.

The videos and materials were developed by Kimberly McLean, HS Mathematics Teacher and Class of 2021 Advisor at Spencerport High School.

For each topic, students will watch an instructional math video in which the math teacher provides detailed instruction that goes along with the Student Handout. Students will take notes and be guided through multiple examples. There are practice problems (or "You Try") sections where students can practice problems that correspond to content examples covered in the videos. There are no videos for the practice problems; rather, the solutions are provided in the Teacher Guide. Stop and start the video as needed! In the Facilitator Guide, you will find specific instructions for using the materials.

Students will need Internet access, a writing utensil, a calculator (TI 84 is used in the videos), and a copy of the Student Handout.
