DESCRIPTION
This training will provide background information to demystify how immigration law works in the United States. The training aims to help staff identify situations where someone may be eligible for immigration relief so that they may provide referrals to qualified attorneys.
PRESENTED BY
Olivia Post Rich, Labor & Employment Staff Attorney, Worker Justice Center of New York
Olivia has been a labor and employment attorney based in the Worker Justice Center of New York's Rochester office since 2021. One of the very few legal services organizations providing labor & employment representation in upstate New York, WJCNY provides holistic services to low-income and agricultural workers, primarily from immigrant communities. These communities face unique risks and challenges in advocating for their rights at work. Olivia represents workers in litigation and agency complaints on matters such as trafficking, wage theft, discrimination, and retaliation, as well as related immigration matters, such as U and T-visas. Prior to working at WJCNY, Olivia clerked for a judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Olivia received her legal degree from New York University School of Law.
