New York State Mathematics Learning Standards identify four shapes for Prekindergarten students to identify and describe: squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles, regardless of size. Kindergarten students continue with these four shapes and add five more: hexagons, cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres.
With directions in English for the Educator, and student handouts in English and Spanish, these activities are ready to download, print, and go!
I Spy Circles uses a circle magnifying glass to find items that look like circles. Pictures of real objects, such as wheels and a plate, are provided in the student handouts.
My Circle Book prompts students through the steps of writing, reading, and putting together a short book about circles. The student handouts include images of familiar items, such as a soccer ball and a cookie.
My Circle Poster prompts students through the steps of tracing and drawing circles. QR codes and links are provided to online stories about circles in Unite for Literacy.
