The Family Fun Game is designed for students with various math skills to play together. Each student has their own set of game cards to use on their turn. This can be used in any group setting, at home or in summer school. For a short warmup activity, the game cards can be used by themselves, without a gameboard.

Tips for Printing, Preparing, and Playing - This handout provides tips about printing, how the grade bands work, brief instructions about playing the game, and a reference list of the NYS Next Generations Mathematics Learning Standards targeted for each grade band in the Summer Math curriculum. Designed to help students retain math skills during the summer, math content is based on the grade that the student just finished in May/June.
- The Dog Pack is for students who completed kindergarten (copied on pink paper)
- The Crayon Pack is for students who completed grades 1-2 (copied on blue paper)
- The Whale Pack is for students who completed grades 3-4 (copied on green paper)
- The Owl Pack is for students who completed grades 5-6 (copied on yellow paper)
Student Game Packs - Each grade band is identified by its icon: Dog, Crayon, Whale, or Owl. Each student game pack contains:
- Five different sets, or units of Family Fun Game Cards written in English and Spanish. Unit 1 introduces the game. Units 2 – 5 have game cards that practice all of the target math skills in the Summer Math curriculum.
- Graphic Organizers and Paper Manipulatives (NEW Summer 2022) help support students in closing gaps in their math skills.
- Each Game Pack has a DIY page, so students can make their own player piece (from paper) and a “paper toss” to select a number to move when dice are not available (pictured in the photo above).
All Answer Keys - The answer key for each unit are for all four grade bands in one chart. (Answer keys and some Game Cards have been corrected for Summer 2022.)
Sample Solutions (NEW Summer 2022) - The Answer Keys just provide answers. The Sample Solutions demonstrate how Educators can support students with the steps to solve the problems. Sample Solutions are available for the CRAYON, WHALE, and OWL grade bands.
